Absolutely Disgusting

http://origin-www.thestar.topscms.co...ine-track?bn=1

I have no qualms about a horse who made a half a million or a million race for low level claimers if the owner is not the one who made the money with that horse, and simply claimed it and is now running it where it belongs.

But what happened here is just deplorable.

The trainer deserves a suspension or having his license yanked.

Hadn't he done enough? A comeback at 13 and at Mountaineer? Unreal.

The owner stated Wake at Noon was his friend. Some friend. The greed of some owners never ceases to amaze me. He probably sleeps fine.

When I read this story this morning, it made me sick. Unbeleivable. How he got onto the grounds, being ineligable is besides the point here, but I hope the investigation concludes with some heads rolling...someone dropped the ball or made a little cash on the side by looking the other way. If the owner doesn't know the rules (unlikely) then the trainer sure as hell did...
poor horse...a Champion and crowd pleaser...and horse that ran 67 freakin' times, obviously, not enough for his owner...who says the horse was his friend because he patter him everyday...gee, a pat a day makes you a horse's friend...I don't think so ...if he cared for that horse, he would have put him out to pasture to live his life in contentment...but hey, he wasn't doing well at stud...after winning over a million dollars, his low class owner wanted more...
I sure hope he's happy now...now he has jack $hit, just what he deserves...besides getting his owner lic. pulled...I hope he has mightmares the rest of his life....SOB!!

It's hard to believe that this game was once called "The sport of Kings".

Now it's one embarrassment after another...

I am so glad they retired " Lava Man " some owners just don't get it. They think they always have a chance. Remember that guy who entered a 20,000 dollar lousy claimer. He was terrible. 0 for 34. In huge Grade 1 races. He would drive the horse in a trailer. 2000 miles for races. He actually thought he had a chance.

The owner of the horse has a huge stable (mostly cheap to middle claimers), so it isn't like he needed the action.

You are absolutely correct. This is a black eye which racing doesn't need.

2 questions:

"He said the investigation would include trying to determine how a horse that was ineligible to race at Woodbine got past security and onto track property. An ineligible horse isn’t granted a stall, even if it’s just for a few hours for a workout."

1) How long in training first time prior to going to the track at all, compared to this time?

2) How many ofthese are on his PP's? How many now?

DANGER SIGNS A RACEHORSE MAY HAVE A LEG/FOOT PROBLEM:

****D eclining speed

N egative PP comments

F ront wraps

****01) More than 3 months' layoff between races.

02) 2 or more gaps in racing frequency of more than 6 weeks.

03) 3 or more consecutive races with gaps of 2 weeks or less.

04) 2 or more consecutive unusually slow workouts.

05) Lugging, drifting, swerving more than once within 1 or 2 races, especially on turns.

06) Awkwardness while trying to switch leads.

07) Excessive bobbing while running, (like a merry-go-round pony).

08) Any problems leaving the gate in a race.

09) 5 or older stretching out or shipping to a slower pars track (wearing down).

10) Losing normal early speed.

11) Lung infection (possible parallel sign of overwork).

****12) New front wraps.

13) 1 month of racing while showing no works.

14) Alteration of training or racing regimen.

15) more than 19 1/2 furlongs of workouts and/or races within 30 days.

This is a very sad story,How much do these animals have to make?..I wont comment on this guy but he should be ashamed...Kind of like what happened here last week,Poor 8yo mare with 98 starts and 2 wins to her credit broke down in a race and had to be put down,Another example was a horse called Honey Honey Honey,Made over 300k for his owner and was dropped to 5k and got claimed.Horses that have these kind of earning and that are dropped to the bottom should be made to retire....Pure GREED on all of these owners..
