Dick Mitchell
Just heard on TVG that Dick Mitchell, renowned handicapping author, passed away in Arizona on Sunday. Condolences to his family. He had many interesting ideas and did major work in the area of par development.

I'm truly sorry to hear that. His Commonsense Betting will always have a prominent place in my handicapping library.

Winning Thoroughbred Strategies was the first real handicapping book I read. After reading it I felt like I really knew something about becoming a good handicapper.
My deepest sympathies go out to Dick's family and friends.

When I opened this thread I had hoped he had released a new book. Just terrible news. JimL

He was very entertaining. A nice person,he had great passion for what he did , truly sad.
What was the cause of his death ?, he could not have been very old.
lesson.
Share what you know, in the end you can't take your knowlege with you.

Sad
He wrote some great stuff. I heard that he had forsaken horse racing after his divorce. I also heard that he got crushed by his wife when they divorced. Hopefully, he found happiness before his passing.
