Barry Meadows new book
The Skeptical Handicapper, due to ship March 1.
Got an email today about it.
Also, I understand Pandy has a new one ready to go - he is going to post something on his website.

Barry was kind enough to send me an early copy to read and review which I received today.
No spoiler alerts, but I'm going to be up very late reading this.

Barry was a guest on ATR today, last half hour of the day.
He will be on several more times over the coming weeks to discuss the book in deeper detail and to add his ideas to the ongoing ticket building Steve has been doing every Friday lately.
Book ships next week.
Looks like a detailed statistical study covering 2014 - 2017.

Barry told Steve he was skeptical by nature. If someone said to him it was a nice day, he would tell them to prove it!
That was his premise for the book. To prove everything he was saying.
I was thinking about that today, watching TVG and hearing the talking heads throwing out this and that piece of advice, wondering how many of them actually knew what they were talking about- verified facts or just talking through their hats.

Peter Lurie is the TVG host whose handicapping opinions I trust the most. In fact...I've been seriously thinking to give up on handicapping and just piggyback on Lurie's horizontal wagers. It's a can't miss proposition...IMO.

I just looked at Amazon...and only the kindle format is selling there at this time. I bought it anyway...even though I've had bad experiences with handicapping books on kindle. It's listed at 662 pages, so it will be a while before I get a good impression of it. But I'll post a review as soon as I can.

I bought the kindle version, too. Good luck with the book, Barry, I'm looking forward to reading it.

I don't have a Kindle but there is a free app for PC. Has anyone ever used this on a PC. I would like to get the book but would like some input. I can always get the hardcover if need be.

i have purchased a digital book called keep it simple, a horseplayers guide. on amazon and used their app to read it. so i didn't see a problem going that route.
but as you can see from my 0 rep power my input is not well regarded on this site. lol
