Tom commented on my bus analogy used in the context of replays. And the thread seemed to have fizzled out.

Btw-The martial artist and I stayed in contact up until just five years ago. I never saw Carolyn again. I hope she has been happy in the service of her lord. But I NEVER saw it coming.

And I occasionally have nightmares about bashing the redneck's skull. Real bad ones. But it was his choice to come at me with a potentially lethal weapon. I do hope distant memory has dramaticized his injury. He well may have mended.

A good short story and very well articulated with a surprise ending to boot!
Nothing like receiving some Divine Intervention when it counts!

My two cents.
I would focus on turf races. Trips play a much larger role in these events and pace not so much.

Speaking of replays. What happened to the replays from Golden Gate for the first week or so in August?

July 29th through Aug 11th was technically a relocated Sonoma County Fair. Might they be hiding under some designation for that?

Is it me or is the quality of track replays around the country deteriorating?

Lately, it seems like I'm running into more races where there is no head-on replay even though it says there is one (they show the pan instead of the head-on), there are bushes, trees, mounds of dirt and other obstructions during critical parts of the race so you can't see the full race, the camera work seems so distant you can barely make out which horse is where, during head-on replays they switch from one angle to another at the exact moment the horses are coming into great view so you can see the paths and locations clearly etc..

It's hard enough watching dozens of replays every week, but it's twice as difficult if the quality is poor.

I'm glad you mentioned this as I'd been planning to vent with a similar post several times already and didn't get to it. Adding on to what you said the amount of camera shake at some of these tracks is downright shameful tbh. I understand a number of these shots are from towers around the oval and there are windy days etc etc, but some of this stuff is nuts. Maybe they can't use a tripod or something but even handheld I don't understand why they're all in line ready for a start and whoever is holding the camera is like wearing a gopro on a pogo stick. Let's payout millions in purses and put our feed out there looking like this, smh...

As I've traveled around to various tracks in the last couple of years - I feel like I'm seeing fewer and fewer camera towers at those key points around the track. I know I've seen one or two towers that were no longer standing, but laying on the ground nearby where they would formerly have been standing. This is only anecdotal recollection based on the points made here, but you all did get me wondering.
