One thing I will add is that years ago the major contenders in the Met were often high level Grade 1 and multiple Grade 1 winning older horses. It was often an elite Grade 1 event. The quality of the race these days is more along the lines of an average Grade 1 where most of the horses are trying to break through to get a Grade 1 win. So it should be easier for a very good 3yo to fit in now than it was in the past (especially with the break in weights).

Sorry about that - I can't imagine no age is given in a chart!
Try BRIS - this is the main lin to the FREE chart archives.
You will need to register to use the site, but no charges for charts.

Age and sex are together in one column.

Here is the data from the charts available on BRIS
I.V. calculated from only the races where a 3yo was present.

I didn't think Bolt d'Oro would lose by that much.

On paper, he was capable of something in the high 120s, 130 on TimeformUS. Of course, maybe younger horses feel more stress when they're facing older horses.

BRISNET changed their system and requirements about a year ago. Old passwords no good anymore, need to make a new one. I think they require a credit/debit card account to, hoping you'll buy something sometime, but things like pdf results are free.

I missed 1999 when eventual BC Classic winner Cat Thief opted out of the Triple Crown and got fried in a speed duel in the Met Mile instead.
