I believe since 2004, they haven't come in the top 3 spots at all. Came in 4th twice I believe.

Frosted and Wicked Strong. Based on past history it has been hot and cold. Winners came out of it in 2000, 2001, 2003 after a drought since 1994 preceded by another drought. It was 5 for 7 from 1975-1981.

if this is true, in 12 yrs, an estimated 24/40 ny/wood horses haven't finished in the $$$$.
it doesn't get much worse than that. especially since there have been some really good horses that came through in that time frame

Yeah, I'm wondering if its the cold weather on the easy coast that affects these horses & their training?

Normandy invasion, tale of ekati, jazil
Lot of good looking horses came out of the wood hurt... Eskenderaya, Toby's corner, I want revenge, uncle mo, war pass
Tough to judge the race relative to the derby the past 10 years when 1/2 the horses haven't competed...

Question is why were the top horses getting hurt before the gate was open in the KD? Dosouther Cali horses have the same outcome of getting hurt before the big race?

Eskenderaya and I Want Revenge would have been favored in the Derby. IWR was favored before scratching the morning of the Derby. Eskenderaya was a monster and looked like a horse that could make a serious run at the Triple Crown.
Normandy Invasion doesn't get involved too early in the 2013 Derby, and who knows? He may have had the most horse that day only to finish 4th.

outlook has a lot going for him. i would usually include him on my 5 horse box,..but these wood horses never run i the derby, no matter how much you think they'll improve, no matter how much their trending up either.
i think i've said the above for multiple years running w/ a wood horse..lol

naaa. only 1st/2nd.....i usually throw a 5 horse exacta box..i realize previous results have no bearing on future ones, but it's just alarming how BAD these horses have run in the KD. i mean, really,..how much can you ignore it?
