It looked to me like he didn't see Informative until the horse was already by him, but I don't think a whip would have made any difference. Either way, sometimes you are going to be the guy with Informative and sometimes you are going to be the guy cashing with NYT.

Have a look at my post again. I said I didn't think Lopez rode a bad race. He simply lost focus in the drive around the 1/8th pole (lack of situational awareness concerning Informative on the inside). And, if you don't see NYT's head cocked to the right, looking towards the stands as they go by the 1/8th pole; then we'll just have to disagree.

Huh ?
This post doesn't make sense.
It's a contextual fail.
In my two simple posts about NYT, I just stated the obvious.......they certainly weren't hard to understand.
I have no idea how you twisted them up.

Of course , the track's PR is going to paint a peachy picture....
The main thing is that they DIDNT discuss it with The Jockey's Guild and the jockey's themselves....that's total DISRESPECT!!!!
Also Ferrer would be out of the top 5 if everyone was there....
So he should be happy for that..

I'm not sure what you're getting at. The whip rule is not Monmouth's rule. It is the NJ Racing Commission's rule. Monmouth (Drazin) has clearly stated he does not like the no whip rule, and that he'd prefer limited use promulgated on a national level (i.e., consistently across venues).
I heard one person say the rule exists because Mrs Murphy doesn't like to see the horsies get whipped. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if true. You make a deal with the Devil you play by his rules.

The guild is not a union. It is elite prima donnas shafting the blue collar riders. Was the same back when I was riding. The guild is a joke.
They are embarrassed they are being proven wrong about whips and safety. They use safety as a excuse to not have to hand ride only.
