Churchill (temporarily) halts Turfway construction

Apparently they stopped construction on the new grandstand back in September because of the uncertainty of the HHR device situation.

I know that this was going to be a "no grandstand" season at Turfway anyway since construction was going to go into next year, but does anyone know if all the Tapeta related work on the track itself is complete in preparation for the season?

Essays that I will not be writing anytime soon: "Why I Love Churchill Downs, Inc."

When Churchill buys you, the product will suffer.

Arlington has NEVER been the same after CDN took over.

Turfway was on its last legs. Churchill has already opened another local OTB/HHR facility to boost purses across town. Turfway had no where to go but up with CDI buying them.

Turfway was owned by a casino operating in Ohio and no willingness to invest in Turfway. It was a run down facility.

The previous winter was the best racing seen at Turfway in a decade. I’m sure this winter will be the same.

true; the previous owner didnt want historical racing machines at TP because of their casino in Cincy. CD buying it was a positive move

Yes the track work is complete. The Tapeta is ready to go. Horses start moving into the backside soon.

This might be the understatement of the year.
