I won't bet the race if I don't get a minimum of 5-1.But will still play the doubles.Might get into the .50 tri this year.

what does it mean to wheel the field up and down?

In a 10-horse field, his up-and-down exacta wheel would look like this:

1 over 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10

and

2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 over 1

I play it just like any other race. I single a winner on my superfecta ticket (depending of course on how many final win contenders I have, and I still try to end up with 1 horse on top), the other 3 rows are determined by field size individual running styles and how the race projects to run, and pool size.

I'll use a random number generator to generate 50 sets of 4 numbers between 1 and 20, will use those and bet $.10 supers.

oaks/derby double. if i'm not live in the double derby day. win and place on my best horse. i always bet exactas because they are great value for the difficulty of hitting them. i also play pick 3's and 4's on the big days.

There won't be any 10-cent Supers for the Derby.

This maybe an extremely bad strategy, but I'm still a rookie and it will be my first time betting the Derby. Anyway, in that particular race I'm prepared only to spend $40. I'm placing all win bets with minimum $2.00 bets on all 20 contenders or so how many there are. I'm hoping it will be another longshot as Animal Kingdom was 20-1 last year.

Don't really plan on winning a big score for my first Derby. I just want to cash a winning ticket higher than my original $40 spent on that race.

It's just another horse race

There's no claim of fame here. There will be another horse race in 20 minutes.

I generally focus on exacta and sometimes tri. Will probably key 2-3 horses over several others, and then Identify a couple of longshots for individual wagers.

I've had a lot of success handicapping, but I have not capitalized the way I would like to.

This year I do not have a longshot winner. I will look at the race as a normal race and consider multi race exotics.

Figaro, betting every horse is great for the BC. It's actually been profitable every year!! Not so sure for the Derby.

This year I'm betting $10.00 to win on Gemologist & Hansen. Also a $1.00 per box with these two. Total investment $22.00.

Best of luck to all!

play a 1$ exacta a/all and a 1$ exacta box of five horses= $40. and will pay more.

Nothing to technical here but every year I try to think of phrases with the horses names for the derby. Tonight I came up with these below. I don't mean to eliminate horses but to what I feel watching there recaps, names and through out the season. I will probably bet about $100 and about $25 will be name phrases for trifectas/superfectas and such.

So each horse represents the place below.

Bodimeister your have a creative cause But Daddy Nose Best, Dulahan the Union Rags and I'll have another. I'm Done Talking.

Or
Union Rags, I am Done talking! You have a Creative cause but I'll have another you Bodemeister!

Or

Hansen, I'll have another, it was a creative cause and Daddy Nose Best and Union Rags went the day well.
