Stabile resigns NYRA position
Quote:
ELMONT, N.Y. - Anthony Stabile confirmed Wednesday he has resigned from his position at the New York Racing Association, where he held several roles including co-host of “Talking Horses.”
Stabile declined to go into details over the specifics of why he resigned – which he officially did June 8 – though he was suspended two weeks by NYRA for a video that circulated of him threatening trainer Jim Chapman in April on the Belmont backstretch

Ditto this.
Mr. Stabile has a wonderful quality of passing out smiles. And, while he may not exactly be the smoothest of race-callers, he's entertaining in that field as well!
"...and he just took them on a gate-to-wire tour of Aqueduct"

The whole situation saddens me because it seems that absolutely no one wins.
I cannot help but think about the $100,000+ that he and Andy along with their partners raised playing mini-golf. Ask yourself who would pay $100,000 to watch you do anything for an hour (if you could). Four very important causes walked with $25,000 donations from that effort.
We all do things inside and outside of our jobs, both positive and negative. We can only hope that when our fate is in the balance, there can be some compassion when we need it most. Best wishes to everyone involved and particularly to two "internet friends".

On Belmont day he was a guest at Mohegan Sun race book. Wish him well in all future endeavors. Will miss him trackside at Saratoga during morning workouts.

I liked listening to unvarnished Anthony on HRRN.

My gut tells me... down the road... there's an open door for him to be in the booth calling races one day at the Aqueduct.
I wish him nothing but good luck moving forward.
For those that love NY racing... Anthony's correct - Steve's Piccola Bussola is THE best Italian resturant. That said, my vote goes to Cafe Baci which is also on old country road.

Wishing Anthony all the best moving forward.
Personally I would get Sara Elbadwi back on to co-host with Andy but that is just me. Or David Aragona. Then again, I'm probably wrong lol.

I think Sara has done a great job on talking horses, but Andy and Anthony had a sort of adversarial chemistry that is hard to replicate.

Agree, I always liked listening to Andy trying to convince Anthony to use pace figures.

Stabile was in the paddock today at Belmont, paddock judge called security when he saw and and went to talk to him. Soon after there were 3 or 4 other NYRA officials with them. There was a discussion that seemed to revolve around whether he was allowed in paddock or not. It wasn't heated, but certainly seemed like overkill to have that amount of people and discussion around this. Not good for all involved.
