"I decided to call colleagues around the country who work in other emergency departments and in intensive care units to ask a simple question: how many patients could they remember dying from the flu? Most of the physicians I surveyed couldn’t remember a single one over their careers. Some said they recalled a few. All of them seemed to be having the same light bulb moment I had already experienced: For too long, we have blindly accepted a statistic that does not match our clinical experience."

Nobody can remember anybody dying from the flu, yet 60,000 in this country and 600,000 worldwide can die in any given year...I guess they are all dying at home...

Seriously dude...how much bullshit do you think the populace can handle?

Have you ever thought of blowing your brains out? Inhale, grab a tissue and exhale and save us the insanity of your erroneous inaccurate babblings.

Are you siding with the crackpots?

How do you feel about 5g Cell phone towers causing covid-19, and all the hospitals in the world and physicians and medical professionals working at those institutions, organizing the "hoax" of covid-19, to fatten their bottom line?

I have no strong opinion about how we should be counting deaths for the virus compared to the flu or other diseases when there are multiple factors at work.

What I think is obvious is that the death rate for this is WAY higher than flu. That was the point of the article I posted. Flu deaths are wildly over counted by CDC. So even if there are some legitimate questions about how deaths should be counted for the virus, it's still wildly more deadly than flu.

I'm 61.

I know 1 person in my entire life that died from the flu. My friend's younger brother died last year. He was in his mid 50s.

I just lost 2 cousins to this virus in a matter of weeks and know other people that lost family and friends.

It shouldn't even be a controversial conversation.

I'm somewhat optimistic on the latest data and think we are going to get through this fine in a few months, but absent all the social distancing and lockdowns it would have been way worse and huge multiple of flu if both were counted exactly alike. You can see it the total deaths in NYC data, in ER activity, and from the doctors treating it. They've never seen anything close to this from any flu.

Class, yes people can BE LISTED as dying from the flu or CV, but they die of COMPLICATIONS from the flu and/or CV from other underlying preconditions that actually were the cause of death....

There's always a catalyst that's starts the death spiral. Coroners list the cause of death as whatever they are INCLINED to list, in specific cases like these.

BTW, I'm sorry for the loss of your loved ones.

And with this covid-19, the official policy by the INH is to list the cause of death as the virus whenever anyone dies merely with it. That's a very low bar. Someone has a big interest in inflating the numbers.

And here I was all these years under the mistaken impression the CDC had a duty to report accurate numbers to the public.
