the race got scratched down to become a match race. when everything was finalized after the race, the losing horse had exactly $7663 bet on him as the favorite, and the winning horse had exactly $7630 bet on him as the winner. the winning ticket paid $3.20. breaking that down for an even money 50/50 chance of a coin flip is you lay 10 and only win 8. this is after takeout and paying breakage.

one may argue that it was a great price on the winner, which i happen not to disagree with. but that is heavy duty lumber to be laying no matter what you think or know.
