Has Artorius finished the race yet. The four Derby horses ran 1-4! Finally a race that ran the way it was supposed to.

Locked up 3YO of the year. Serious BC Classic contender.

I thought Rich Strike proved his Derby wasn’t all fluke. He benefited from the pace and ride that day, but he also ran well. He ran well again yesterday and barely missed second. Some of these other horses may develop more and move past him, but he’s a good horse.

Early Voting ran well until the top of the stretch and then fell apart badly

I was hoping that horse would have finished 1st (LOL) or at least hit the superfecta but then again it is just horse racing so I will live with it

Congrats to Epicenter on his Runhappy Travers Stk win!

There were reasons to think Early Voting might not be as good as his Wood and Preakness looked on paper. I highlighted them earlier in the thread. Once he didn’t make the lead and got hung out, it was going to be very difficult for him. I think I’d try cutting him back.

I have mixed feelings about Rich Strike's performance. OTOH, yes, nobody can look at this and just say he has no ability at all- he finished in a 2nd place photo with a couple of highly regarded 3 year olds! And he made a really nice move into contention from the 3/8ths pole. He ran far better than I thought he would.

But... he REALLY hung. Cyberknife and Zandon were tiring. He moved up alongside, seemed like he should have blown right past them, and finished a clear second. Instead, he wasn't able to close the deal.

So this race showed both the potential and the limitations of Rich Strike.

Agreed. When he made his huge closing move on the far turn I thought at the very least he would get 2nd with a possible run for the win. At this point I think the horse needs a jockey change. Also, I thought #5 Artorious would run much better then he did.

In the old days, we'd look at the same thing and just call it being a race short conditioning-wise.

Rich Strike

Well Rich Strike gave it his all. He is just not quite up to par with this crowd. HE clunked up for fourth with a runaway winner crushing the field. Not impressive. Maybe against expectations, he lifted his game a notch. I'll give him that.

He needs some serious class relief. The Remington Derby would be a good fit. He is fast running out of derbies, and I don't think he is ready to take on the older big boys.

I thought Rich Strike ran a good race, almost finished 2nd. Maybe he would have done better with a warmup race. Was a little worried about him in the post parade, that might be how he rolls. Wonder what’s next for this horse with the Breeders Cup right in his backyard.

Early Voting was a disappointment, never got position, might have had some underlying issues, wonder if he comes back this year.

Gotta hand it to Cyberknife, ran like I thought EV would run. Though he may have been a wise guy horse, but proved he belonged. He may be the most improved horse this year.

Right now Epicenter is 5 lengths better than his rivals, should be ready to take on older horses in the classic. Wonder if anybody else joins him from the 3yr olds.
