Time to put this myth to rest. Nursing Home deaths in NY were not caused by Cuomo. The false narrative is that the virus spread when Cuomo forced nursing homes to accept Covid positive patients in order to free up space in hospitals. However, the peak of nursing home deaths preceded the influx of Covid patients from hospitals to nursing homes by a week. And almost all of those patients were past the contagious phase.

In the meantime, over 37,500 (25%) nursing home staff were positive for Covid. This was before the deaths began. Since Covid can be transmitted before symptoms appear, this is where most of the infections occurred. There was also unintended transmission from family members unaware they were infected.

Summarizing:
37,500 New York nursing home staff were infected with Covid-19 starting in early March. These workers were in close, frequent contact with residents. At least in the beginning, they were not aware they were ill. They were contagious.
The peak influx of Covid-19 patients from hospitals into nursing homes occurred about one week after the peak in nursing home deaths. You can’t have cause after effect.
COVID-19 patients coming from hospitals were, for the most part recovering and non contagious. They were also isolated from healthy residents.

All of this information is in a study put out by the New York State Department of Health in July. Not that you will ever look at it.
