A couple of other restaurants closed due to an employee testing positive. I think they may have common ownership with staff moving back and forth, but I'm not sure.

Which restaurants? I'm up here and have not heard this.

I saw it on my Twitter feed yesterday or the day before from someone that retweeted the info. It was two restaurants, but neither was one that I was familiar with. The discussion simply said it was 1 employee, both were owned by the same person, and the restaurants shared employees. So they were temporarily closing both and doing some disinfectant procedure to ensure the safety of all employees and customers. If I can find it again, I'll let you know.

Found it quicker than I expected. You can read the discussion below her tweet for some more details if you want.

Another Saratoga business closes down because of Covid infection, following King’s Tavern and Five Points.

Five Points isn't a restaurant and King's Tavern is a bar. It's also my understanding that Five Points opened up again very quickly.

I looked up Five Points. I'm pretty sure I know that one now. If I'm thinking of the right one, it's a deli. I see it on my walk to the track from the Holiday Inn.
Kings Tavern and City Tavern are bar/restaurants.
I've never been to either.
I don't think the virus is any kind of issue up there at this time. The last time I checked daily numbers, there were probably fewer cases than on the block I live on in Queens.

Kings and City Tavern are run by the same people. They both closed due to a positive. It’s possible it could have been the same person or cross contamination. Five Points is a corner store/deli. They have reopened but are having a sidewalk sale to close for good. I believe the owner was leasing and will move to a new location. Tough times .
It pops up at places around here from time to time. There’s way more activity then I thought there would be. It’s not the usual mob but people are up here and on vacation. It seems like people that rented in advance, have summer homes or come up here camping , are still showing up. And this crap moves with people, it’s been kept pretty low ..... considering

Spa City Diner was closed about 10 years ago.
New York happens to have some great diners.

Cuomo gave the OK for New York casinos and malls to reopen at partial capacity starting September 9th. Maybe Belmont will allow some fans soon after it opens. I can't see why they can't at least open the backyard to the public unless there are issues I am unaware of. I'm dying for some live racing before the weather gets colder. I'd settle for some sun in the paddock.

Saratoga may lead a charmed life because the virus is finally starting to spread more rapidly in some areas of upstate NY, though it still hasn't hit Saratoga really hard. There were 31 cases yesterday in Saratoga. That's still WAY more than what we were seeing when it was peaking in NYC, LI, and Westchester earlier in the year.

Let me guess, someone is confusing Saratoga with Saratoga County? It's not like anything else he said here turned out to be true, so why start now.

There are 12 active cases in Saratoga Springs proper. I don't believe this number includes the town of Saratoga. Like you said, the above poster was most likely referencing Saratoga County. Here's a detailed dashboard:

Yes, I was referring to Saratoga County because that's the data I check daily.
The point was, the virus is now spreading rapidly from the city and commuting areas around the city to more rural areas all over NY state including an uptick in Saratoga Springs which is part of Saratoga County. That's exactly what a few of us said was a risk back in August. NYRA did a great job, but was also lucky the lock down delayed the inevitable.
My value to this thread was greater than your value to my handicapping.
If I want to know what you think about a race I can read an outdated book from the 70s that was wrong on several issues and come up with the same underlays you think are overlays. More importantly, I can do it without listening to you berate your cohosts, make excuses for your losers, and backhandedly tell them they were lucky their horse beat yours again.

And remember, NYRA didn't have to do this. It had options downstate. And I am pretty certain that if moving to Saratoga had resulted in an outbreak, NYRA wasn't going to offer to pay compensation, just like it didn't compensate all the horsemen who had to incur expenses moving to Saratoga.
