Voting should be under federal jurisdiction
This election is bullsh%t , ALL these politicians are full of the same s&#t why not have fair voting system that applies to EVERY state with the same mandatory rules .
1 Mail in and absentee 60 days before Election, with last mail in vote accepted 1 day prior to E D
2 In person voting allowed one week prior to election .
I really do not understand why not ,and If that isn't enough time
to vote then forget about it.

The worst absurdity is in PA where signatures on mail-in-votes don't have to match. What possibly could go wrong with that policy?

I agree with you on this one Box, but it was a textualist-based ruling, as PA law makes no reference to a matching-signature requirement. The PA Supreme Court ruling was 7-0 (the two GOP justices sided with the 5 Dems).

Because of the Constitution.
(Assuming that I understand it right...)
The point is that the PEOPLE do not actually elect the President. The STATES do.
I agree with your logic, of course.

Seems reasonable. And a good opportunity to standardize and streamline the process. Ridiculous it takes hours

As with the Electoral College, it is the BASIS of our government. WE are a union of STATES.
However, as with everything else libs like whine about, the constitution CLEARLY has provided a process by which to change it. And it isn't whine enough and it will happen. And with a 6-3 court now it not going to be legislating from the bench.
A fair and timely election is not, sadly the goal of many states.
From the hanging chads in 200, Florida seems to have become the blueprint for holding an election now.
Pennsylvania will be lucky if the majority of them ever learn to walk and chew gum at the same time. A state of idiots.

It would be so easy to fix this election mess!
1. No early voting.
2. No mail-in voting (not to be confused with absentee ballots)
3. All voters must have a federally-issued I.D. card.
These three simple rules for all would greatly deter cheating and fraud.

So what do you do with the military ballots that are in the mail?
What about the disabled?
Would never work on so many fronts.
Why make it harder to vote?

What part of number 2 didn't you get? Also, do you understand the big difference between an absentee ballot and a mail-in one?
And the whole point of the post was that those rules would go a long way in protecting the integrity of legal votes. Or do you have something against this, in principle?

Why should they have to match? When you need to "find" 100,000 votes it is difficult to do with matching signatures.

Why don't we just let people vote over the computer? Why make it harder to vote?

There is no difference once the ballot enters the postal system.
I voted by mail this year.
It was great.
