After receiving approval from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, Indiana Grand issued an announcement May 7 that stated it would announced revised racing dates with an opening day during the week of June 14.

I believe the Santa Rosa Fair also cancelled for the summer, with no decision on racing

Santa Anita is going to not have enough Horses to have any meaningful betting races. Might be the Death of SoCal racing in that facility.

On Friday May 8, the Washington Horse Racing Commission voted to approve a 44-day season for Emerald Downs. Racing was originally scheduled to begin on April 18 and has now been approved to begin on Monday, June 22. Initially racing will be conducted every Monday and Tuesday with no fans in attendance.

What does that tell you about the politics in L.A.? That has to be the only thing holding this back. It's been under review for, what, 2 weeks? If they're not open for Memorial Day weekend, it would be a travesty.

I like the Monday/Tuesday schedule. They can actually compete with the evening racing on those days. Gotta get Sunday in there when fans are allowed on track, I would hope. Used to be no better way to bring a weekend to an end than racing down to the track for the Sunday feature/nightcap DD.

For the Monmouth 2020 schedule, they have 37 days of live racing and 1 day at Far Hills Racetrack. Why only 1 date and not a few? I guess in the past they have only 1 day, but that is pretty sad in my mind.

Far Hills is part of a group of tracks in the eastern United States that have one-day steeplechase meets, mostly in the fall. I don't think there are enough jumpers to run more often than that. It really has nothing to do with Monmouth or the health of the industry. It's very much its own thing. https://www.nationalsteeplechase.com/schedule/

I see. I thought it was part of the National Steeplechase meeting. Thanks!

Recommend everyone check it out if they can make the day.

It looks like they run races at the distances of 2 1/8, 2 1/2, 1 1/2 and 2 5/8 miles. The big race that they card is called the "Grand National Stakes" and that is a Grade 1 race going 2 5/8 miles.

Some of the weights on these horses are HUGE! I see some raced carded for 148, 151,153,155,156 and all the way up to 158. No wonder the horses are bitterly tired and the race takes longer, which is sad to see but that is how Jumps racing/steeplechase has been run I guess.

Here is last years replay of the 2019 G1 Grand National Stakes with the winner Brain Power @ 5-1 odds:
