Should the jockey's return on a $2 bet be considered in addition to the win% ?

For the current meet at Gulfstream Park according to Twinspires:

Paco Lopez has had 414 mounts, 20% winners and a return of $2.17.

Irad Ortiz rode 445 horses, 22% winners and a return of $1.44.

In sports terms, they both have a good records. Paco covers the spread.

Here's a fun example.

Just now the winner at AQU , on a DQ at 43-1 , a Firster from a barn who rarely wins, and never with a FTS, and a low % rider

Took little or no money . Was 45 to 60-1 in all the Pick-X pools.

Not only that , it was sold as a yearling for 170,000, and then resold for 43,000

I took that as a negative, but actually 43,000 was still decent money. They just knew it probably wasn't a 200k horse.

Ran huge, 4-5 wide the whole race ,at a mile no less. Just missed

This is a game that will drive you crazy , for sure.

Interesting postscript. The horse was claimed! for the 40k . How often you see a claim of a 45-1 firster ? Wonder if Falcone bet something .
