It’s getting worse

900 million in late fees this month

I wonder what happens when the vendors stop delivering food to the prisons

This can't possibly be true. Just ask Mr. Mostpost, who questioned my Texas increase. And even if it was, he'd want to know why the victims just don't shop around for a better deal.

Why aren't the other states obligated by law to assist Illinois out of this financial crisis? Do we call this country the "United States" for NOTHING?

Per this story on ZeroHedge, JP Morgan created a study of city and county budgets to determine bond risks - and Chicago is seeing over 60% of incoming taxes going to interest on debt, pension contributions and retiree health care benefits.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-1...ankruptcy-next

Cook County ranked highest in risk at the county level. Incredible.

The end is getting closer.

CHICAGO (CBS) – Cook County board meetings are usually dry and filled with policy and procedure details.

On Tuesday, that was not the case. There were tears and real emotion.

CBS 2’s Roseanne Tellez introduces us to some of the people who got the most unwelcome news, days before Thanksgiving.

Some county employees begged for their jobs.
Cry me a river. Entitlement mentality runs deep with the leeches. Apparently well-paid leeches.

Officials cut 321 jobs to fill a $200 million budget gap.
This explains the problem.

That would be an average of: $623,052.96 per job

Either there are other cuts to meet the $200M gap, or that's some serious pork....

There is nothing in the Constitution saying that other states are responsible for the total fiscal irresponsibility of another.

If the federal government does determine that Illinois should be bailed out, the condition should be that the federal government should take control of the state's finances, revenue and spending. The state has proven that it is not capable of managing its own affairs, so as in the case of an irresponsible person, a guardian should be appointed.

it won't be long until they start raising property taxes to cover their spending/obligations - when they do, will people stay or home ownership drop?

It has to be bad when we're calling the Fed government a financially responsible party in comparison.
