These years, every year we're talking about another horse going to Belmont with a chance to do it. This is the year though we've been waiting for. Even before the Derby, Baffert was saying he's been waiting for this horse all his life. Baffert is a class act running Dortmund, but both Dortmund and Firing Line have had their crack at the Pharoah; it's time for them to make their way to greener, easier pastures, or at least pastures that aren't a week from now. We had that deep Derby field, so let's see if there's a horse out there who can stand up to him. The running style though is perfect, and he isn't going to get tied down by horses wanting to take their shot at him the way Smarty Jones was...If he runs his race, a race other horses have little say in whether he runs, this super horse cannot be beaten.

AMERICAN PHAROAH
I again recommend all read Steve Haskins article in
the May 9th issue of Blood Horse.
You'll get a sense of the horse, The bloodstock people and experts
involved with this superstar.
Hoping this is the guy that seals the deal..

That was a tour de force victory for American Pharoah. Race ridden out of the gate, very swift early fractions, ran the field right off their feet.

Although I can't quantify it, it seemed like pre-race prior to the Derby he was very nervous for some reason. I really felt that he may have left some of his race right there on Derby day, although, needless to say he overcame any perceived adversity by still winning while traveling wide essentially the entire trip around the track. Today, pre-race he seemed to be a lot more relaxed and I said to myself, WOW!! Watch out!! Watch out is exactly right!!

He's not running against history, he's running against the other horses he's already trounced.

I agree. So if he does pull it off I hope people don't complain about weak crop of horses or anything.

Yes, but what did Espinoza say to Nakatani on Mr. Z down the front stretch? Mr. Z let off the pressure in to the 1st turn after that. Not that I'm a hater on AP. I've been predicting him to win the triple crown from the get go, but that and Dortmund not firing has me a little skeptical. I'm an auditor, so I'm skeptical by trade. . AP looks like a ballerina when he is running though. Smooooooooooooth.

We need some sponsors to want to associate with our Triple Crown winner, and we need NBC and the media to begin telling the public that this is one of the all-time greats.
Could be a positive influence on the sport.
