I think it was around 50 years ago that a guy who lived near Dodge City, KS built a car with an engine that was powered by compressed air. Its engine was basically a steam engine but he used compressed air instead of steam. His gimmick was that he used a windmill to pump air into a compressed air tank. I think there are several companies that are working on this technology today, although I seriously doubt that they plan to use windmills.
