I went to see a movie last Saturday. Signs outside the theater say that persons under the age of 17 cannot see an R rated movie unless accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. A group of young people ahead of me were buying tickets for an R rated movie. One of them did not have an ID. After some discussion the ticket seller said "you look 17 to me" and sold her the ticket. None of my business I suppose but she did not look 17 to me. She could have been but without ID I would not have sold her the ticket.

A couple months I got carded for a movie, the first time ever. I am over 50.

They can fight in twitter wars they should be able to see an R rated movie.
This brings back memories...when I was 8 my father took me to see R rated Papilion (this is the same dood who got me into the horses). Mom was not too happy.
Great great movie and I don't think it Fed me up too much  but it was a crazy ass movie, I rewatched about a decade ago and it is psychologically crazed, the solitary confinement, rake going through a body, le guilotine. Probably was not appropriate for a 3rd grader.

It's pretty much joke-easy to get into an R rated movie if you're under 17 and don't have someone older than 17 with you...

My father took me to see Barbarella (Jane Fonda) when I was a kid and we had NO IDEA what that movie was about.
He dragged me out after about 2mins 
(the opening scene was basically a strip tease in outer space)

when i first got my drivers license, i drove down to New York City with my friend in a 1965 Mustang 289 to buy my mother a cheesecake for her birthday from New York.
i found a place on east 61st Street called Serendipity's. they sold women's clothing and New York made cheesecakes. .
we walked a couple of blocks over onto 8th avenue and saw this nightclub called Rodney Dangerfields. appearing that night were Rodney, Suzanne Somers and Jay Leno all on the same card. the cover charge was $3.00 and there was a 2 drink minimum for $7.00. the place might have had a total of 12 people in it and they served me without looking at an ID.
my friend and I weren't 17 and the drinking age at the time was 18.
a much different world today, we would never have gotten in the door.

When I’m bored and want to have some fun I go to a CVS to buy liquor. The clerks are required to ask for id. I’m 68. I can usually extend the transaction 10 minutes or more:
“Sorry, I don’t have an id.”
........
“Sure, get the manager, I’ll wait.”

Was it plus size women's clothing?  One of the strangest merchandise combos I've heard of.
Also are there legal ramifications for letting underage kids in an R-rated movie? I think that would be beyond the responsibility of law enforcement.
