NYRA Streaming video
Got this in the email today -
Quote:
Dear Tom,
At the end of this month, there will be a slight change to your free digital streaming access on NYRA owned digital properties. Fans will only be able to access live racing on NYRA owned digital properties including NYRA.com, BelmontStakes.com and the NYRA Now app, when using their NYRA Bets account.
To continue to receive free, high-quality streaming on NYRA digital assets, upgrade your existing NYRA account to a NYRA Bets account and earn a $200 new member bonus!
Please note that this change will have no effect on NYRA race streaming on outside platforms.
Race replays will still be available on NYRA.com and NYRA Now. You can also access racing features and content on the NYRA YouTube channel. A full broadcast schedule is also available here.
If you are already a NYRA Bets member, make sure to sign in to your account to continue to receive free, high-quality streaming.
Thank you for your continued support of the New York Racing Association.

I am reading this as no more live races on NYRA website unless you are NYRA Bets member?
Is that your take?

Mine too. It's ironic that NYRA is further limiting their live feed, when tracks like Finger Lakes have expanded it beyond their website to YouTube Live..

Well, there are lots of tracks - no one needs to be NYRA.
I like to support tracks who support the bettors.

Maybe this is only if you are in New York or in a state that accepts NYRABets customers? Don't think I've gotten an email but I'm also not allowed a NYRABets account for some reason.

I heard about it a couple weeks ago courtesy of Teresa Genaro.. it's part of NYRA's new partnership with RTN, so I'm pretty sure it affects everyone, not just those in states that NYRABets serves..

My guess is their def of 'new partnership' means RTN will now be paying us more for our sig as their sig has always been available on RTN just not exclusively.

Meadowlands used to stream its signal free of charge on its website( thebigm.com) Once they partnered with Roberts, which has an agreement with RTN( pay service) Meadowands took down the live feed from its website.
My guess is NYRA will do the same.
Now, the wording of the press release still does not make sense.
It says " fans will continue to see live racing on the NYRA website.
That's how I watch now.
So, what's the deal?
\I live in NC where betting on horse racing will get you burned at the stake in the town square by these closed minded medieval Bible Thumpers.
I have to use one of those miserable of shore books to make my bets..
Yeah, I can watch on TVG , But I'd much rather watch NYRA ON NYRA.....

I don't believe it is NYRA that is limiting this..
I believe With their new deal with Roberts Communications contains in it an agreement to not distribute the signal free of charge.
I think Roberts either has a relationship with RTN or a financial stake in the company.
So by removing the free access, Roberts MAY be attempting to herd horse racing bettors and fans over to buying the RTN package

You can keep watching on their website, but only if you’re signed-in via a NYRA Bets account.

So both are just gouging the players - NYRA by forcing you to get their account.
Screw both of them.
Same small mindset that Stronach uses and CD uses - NYRA no better than either.

I have the nyra App on my tablet. Does this mean I can no longer watch? Nothing to do with nyra bets. When is this supposed to take effect?

You will still be able to watch on your app, but only if you have a NYRA Bets account.
Btw I looked all over the NYRA website, and can find no information or announcement about this. I guess they're only informing existing customers by email?

Slight, yes, you will no longer be able to access it!
Unless, of course, you sign up to our ADW whether you want to ornot......right on, boys. Just come out and say it - customers only. Is that so danged hard, to say what you are?
