2. Thousands of years ago the very smartest men observed the world and saw the behaviors, values, attitudes etc.. that worked well and lead to good results for their society and what lead to conflict, disease, poverty, war, violence, mayhem, crime, illegitimacy etc.. Then they made rules to help produce the best possible results and called the rest "sin".
Our society dismisses the rules. Now we are getting the results we should have expected.

The problem is that the only way to tell who the crazy people are is to wait until they do something like this.

How many 16 year olds do you think possess at least one firearm in Chicago? Or Rochester NY for that matter? (hint: a lot)
What do you think should happen to parents when their 18 year old shoots up a school?
I'm not suggesting there is zero responsibility but how can parents be 100% responsible for the actions of their adult children?

No Musty, the shooter did not have an "assault rifle". Fully automatic firearms have been unobtainable by the general public for many decades. Your ignorance knows no bounds.

About 5-10 years ago, a local college student at RIT thwarted an armed home invasion of his off campus housing with an AR-15. I remember reading about it and thinking what a lucky bastard because his weapon was not loaded but the sight of it made the intruders run away.

"Fully automatic" means a machine gun. Pull the trigger and you can empty the magazine. Semi-automatic means you have to pull the trigger for each round. I'm fairly certain anyone without a criminal record can buy a semi-automatic, albeit some states may have a waiting period.
During my military service I was in the ordnance corp. I know what I'm talking about.

Assault rifle means "select fire": semi-automatic, full auto and burst mode.

I agree. #2 never worked and never will because even the "smartest men" are sinful. We cannot get good fruit from bad trees (Mat 7:18). Only the Law of God is holy, righteous and good (Rom 7:12).
