Gr1 Metropolitan Handicap

The Met Mile.
Always a favorite race of mine and one I rarely hit...I think Ghostzapper over Silver Wagon was my last score in this race

Leaning towards the Calculator but you can go in any number of directions here.
My main notion is that I want to beat Stanford & Noble Bird...I think both can get caught up in a potentially destructive pace (as is often the case in this race), esp if Anchor Down gets involved early. Noble Bird is too inconsistent for me and I'll go against him off that big number at Pim last out vs suspect competition.

Always been a fan of El Kabeir, but his connections seem to be reaching lately. Sprint, route, then the Dixie on turf last time (???). He's a nice colt but looks like he's in a bit over his head. Should trip well and the pace may flatter him, but I doubt he gets the job done.

Who ya got?

Right with you. Met Mile is one of my favorite races of the year.

I'm sure it is for many people on here though. Just a great great race with a lot of history and a lot of great champions.

It almost overshadows the Belmont Stakes in some years.

Haven't gotten deep into it yet, but Ami's Flatter has me interested at first glance. He is really starting to get it together as a 4YO. Becoming a big fan of Calculator as well.

DONWORTH, but don't expect anything close to the 20/1 ML.

I was thinking more like 12-1 on Donworth. Maybe even 10-1.

Privman said today El Kabeir and Sloane Avenue were going to scratch.

The Met Mile - obviously the REAL Feature race of the day.

First pass, I really like the look of Marking. He doesn't need the lead and sit close up. Need to do some more work, but this one caught my eye.

Agreed that Noble Bird and Stanford can get caught up in a speed duel. Noble Bird ran huge last time and it was already mentioned he is inconsistent. While not exactly earth shattering, leaning towards Frosted to be close behind the pace or Blofield with the same setup.

What a great day of racing so far. I don't know how you can't take 9-1 on Noble Bird. I like with Ami's Flatter and calculator

Not that it was a particularly strong field but where did Frosted get that race from?
