South of Boston
Staying in Scituate Harbor. The locals have a saying here.
Did you hear the latest?
No, what?
Texas is in the United States now.

Suff, There used to be a real hole in the wall diner right outside the Suffolk parking lot I used to grab a late before heading into the track.
Likely not there since the track closed, but if it is or even boarded up, it would be great to get a picture.
I would eat a late breakfast there, hit the track, and always almost miss my flights from Logan because I never wanted to miss the last race.

That could be any number of places. Its probably the place in the image. You can see the Suffolk Barns in the background. Btw, I didn’t just take this, its been my profile picture on my twitter account since long.
This is Beachmont Roast beef-but was a diner for a long time. Beachmont Roast beef was all nighter w/ underground liquor license. Popular 3am spot for trouble makers. Also good nasal decongestants.
Other than that, you could mean the airport diner, because its on Furlong Drive heading to the airport. Or you could mean the Big E. Looks like a diner, but behaves more like a bar. All three within shouting distance.

I ussed to have plenty of business in Boston but I always stayed at the Holiday Inn ( changed names a few times) between the track and the tunnel.
just to be near the tracks including an occasional Wonderland double header.
Would sometime hit up the Hilltop Steakhouse between cards.

I think you're talking about the one on the Route 1A side that changed hands/names a few times. At one point they had decent (for Boston) Mexican food.

Another Plane today.
When the body count was climbing, I’d describe going out as “a lift”.
Flying’s a large lift. You have to suit up w/armor to walk this road.
Worse than it looks.

Suff,
Did you ever attend the horseracing at the Three-County Fair in Northampton, Great Barrington, or Brockton, or was that not your cup of tea? Certainly a completely different experience from Suffolk.

All Fairs were part of the New England Culture and as kids we'd go with our parents for the day. The one that I attended into my adult years was the Marshfield Fair. The Scituate Harbor photo above is just a couple of miles from the Marshfield Fair Grounds.

My one chance to attend the Marshfield Fair racing was denied by Hurricane David in 1991. In 1992 the racing dates typically given to Marshfield were awarded instead to Foxboro, whose Thoroughbred race meet lasted that year only. Supposedly In a fit of anger, the owner of the Marshfield Fair decided to never race again.
Of all the different race tracks I have been to over the years, my number one all-time favorite is the Northampton Fair. Since year 2000, I made it a point to drive up from Maryland to attend every day they raced. It broke my heart when they ceased racing after the 2005 season.
