Facebook is for suckers
I hear so many people say how great FB is. If you like to give up personal information then yes...yes it is. Zuckerberg has been shady for a long time, but his company's actions are criminal. We need a version of GDPR, a real privacy act and not some laws that have no bite.

I think you are both right, but not the LULZ on this one. It is an issue that everybody should care about, yet the only way to really stop it is to stay offline. Sure there are countermeasures people can take, but do they really fully stop tracking. The most recent Frontline tackles this very issue. I watched the first episode last night. Interesting, informative, and .... scary.

I watched both. Social media is a very real potential threat to everyone.
Smart and evil people can look at your FB page and gain enough details to steal your identity and never raise a sweat.
Most people should not be on the internet - they just have no clue what is going on, what can happen, and we have a government far too corrupt and sleazy to do a GD thing to protect anyone. Best government criminals can buy.

Isn't there also a danger to providing online companies fluid samples to test your DNA for ancestry comparisons? Might as well get fingerprinted, while you're at it...maybe the government would love to have a complete personal database of all its citizens, at hand.

Investors aren't all that happy either. Everything is surging today and FB is getting slaughtered.
I've never liked Facebook. Right from the start the potential abuses were very obvious. It was always going to come down to the integrity of those running it.

Scoundrels can HAVE my identity. Just puleeeeeeeeze spare me the endless parade of cute animal videos and precious grand-kid pics in the wasteland called Facebook.
And if females from my past happen to meet in some Walmart, and commence sharing notes on my many, many evils, so be it. That's fate. But no WAY will I simply hand them a forum on which to congregate.

The females of my past could probably meet quite comfortably in a minivan...and I prefer to assume that my gambling proclivities are to blame.

To me...Facebook is the strongest indicator out there for the general degeneration of society. How could all these people have deluded themselves into believing that their lives are exciting enough to be worth reporting upon to the minutest detail?

I have a moron friend who has nothing better to do than to post photos of himself having lunch at exotic European cafes all over town. And then he has the balls to cry about his failing business...and his mounting personal debt. IMO...anyone on Facebook who is over the age of 15 should be beaten with sticks.
