Oh? What makes you so sure?
Look, where there is action to be had, gamblers will show up.

Sandy W that exact full service casino is now on the way to becoming a reality it will open within the next 3 years. Jersey City will also be given the opportunity to have a casino on the property next to the Liberty National Golf Course built by venture capitalist Paul Fireman. Firemans group Fireman Capital Partners has already begun the pre-planning stages for such a project. This project will also include a 107,500 seat auto sports arena.

What makes you think that if New Jersey is allowed to circumvent the federal law that other surrounding states don't jump into the water the same way that they did with heavy racino/casino competition that you talk about above and offer sports wagering in New York, Penn, Conn, MD, RI, etc.
Ok..So lets not try anything.

Sports betting is mutually exclusive from other forms of gambling.
Given the opportunity to bet , players WILL come. They will bet their money.
Why should you be worrying about the legalities. Let the layers and judges concern themselves with the details.
Jeez....

You are partially correct, the Meadowlands casino will include every casino game imaginable as well as sports wagering. There is also talk of bringing back fall night racing on both the turf and dirt track to the Meadowlands which until the Monmouth at the Meadowlands meet on the turf began running was an unused facility after harness racing ended for the year. Lamboguy hit it on the head NJ breeders will be rewarded once this is up and running!

New Jersey is living a pipe dream if they think that sports wagering is some sort of financial road to the promise land.
The slot players outnumber the sport wagering players at least 500 to 1 and where in New Jersey did all that tax money go, so why would this be any different.
What difference does it make?
Sports wagering is simply another game to play.
So why not?....Jeez

How is this revenue stream short term? NJ can support SW in the state even if all the neighboring states run with it once it is given a green light in NJ. Do you know what the constitutions of those neighboring states look like are they just going to start sports wagering in one of those neighboring states without bringing it to a vote? So the political system only applied to NJ and no one else? Am I reading your comment correctly? If not tell me where approving sports wagering in another state is like a magic show, it just appears overnight!

If New Jersey is successful in opening the flood gates the water will rush in much faster then anybody can imagine.

Its not only ncaa tournament, super bowl, big fights, derby, its every sunday in football season. See the difference in crowds on sundays in football season compared to sundays when football isnt being played.

That's has nothing to do with our initial discussion on how Sports Wagering will eventually come to the racetracks and casinos in NJ. Follow the leader played out before, Atlantic City was the leader in casino development in the Northeast, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and New York followed their model except none of those three states over did it like AC did. None of those states flooded the market with "boutique" style casinos like the Showboat or white elephants like the Revel that in essence pulled patrons and much needed gambling dollars away from healthy casinos. Those casinos that are on suicide watch will eventually fall no matter if SW is implemented or not.
Every other state will eventually look at how NJ was able to "circumvent" PASPA but it will take quite a while for those other states to implement their sports wagering platforms.

The people who got the laws changed to allow casinos in NJ's neighboring now know how to fast track any legislation need to sports wagering if somehow NJ gets it. NJ will always get some tax revenue from it if it comes to pass. But just like lottery funds in those states that have a lottery, it will not provide much tax relief. If there is one universal truth in gambling, states do not like their residents to cross state lines to gamble.
I would like to see sports wagering legalized everywhere on general principle. The tax relief and increased economic activity I don't believe will happen based on what has happened in states that legalized casinos and lotteries. It will not produce that kind of revenue. It would be a very small drop in a very large bucket of what is needed by state and local governments. If anybody thinks that it can some how be used to save horse racing, they likely howl at a full moon too.

The area known as the Meadowlands would be one of the top casino destinations in the world based on location, location, location. The tax revenue itself could change the current tax structure in the state. It will benefit the state greatly.
