So true. And on a related note, there is a certain mindset that a racing official should possess. Confident, but on a high-alert that even borders on apprehension.

I never breathe easy until an error-free overnite is online..or an error-free card is in the books...etc..etc..

Much of the job involves avoiding THE BIG MISTAKE. And no official who doesn't fear it is worth his salt. Properly done, this line of work SHOULD cause ulcers.
