I should have checked this out before posting the above.
It was well known St John's wanted Pitino; I just didn't know the deal was made just days after Iona's loss.
I still think the FDU coach is on his way to New Rochelle.

Just as I called it ...
Quote:
Fairleigh Dickinson's Tobin Anderson, the breakout coaching star of the NCAA tournament, has agreed to a five-year deal to become the next coach at Iona, sources told ESPN.Anderson's hire was announced Tuesday, though contractual details were not disclosed. In a statement, Anderson said his goal is to "build upon the tremendous tradition of Iona basketball and elevate the program to greater heights."

my pick:
Xavier vs. Texas under 149
Xavier has gone under that total 8 times in the last 12
Texas has gone under that total 8 times in the last 12
as we get closer to the final 4 pressure increases and that can effect shooting %

Very impressed by Florida Atlantic.
Long and athletic.
34-3. How the heck were they a 9 seed?

Conference USA. Second best team in Conference, North Texas, didn't even make tournament, and FLA Atlantic's non-conference schedule ranked 251st out of 363 schools.
Guess who had a slightly worse non-conference? Tomorrow's opponent, K State at 255. But their Conference foes' tough defenses (Kansas, Texas, Baylor, West Virginia) exposed them to the 5th most difficult opposition defenses in the country.

If this year's edition doesn't prove that one and done basketball tournaments prove nothing, I don't know what will.
