It's kind of interesting that so much money is up for grabs for older horses in Jan, Feb, and Mar. It might change some of the thinking about when to give horses a freshening and when to try to get them to peak. This could hurt summer racing a bit. BC Classic, Pegasus, Saudi, and Dubai is a nice sequence to point to. Why use your horse up in the summer?

I think that's already happening to a degree. You seen the crap that has been running in the Gold Cup at Santa Anita lately?

The fields have not been. And Vino Rosso, while he turned out to be good, didn't have a great record at the time Pletcher shipped him here.
