Stevens calls it quits

https://www.americasbestracing.net/t...tevens-retires

Hope you have a good retirement! Sucks he is calling it quits due to a spinal injury.

It has to be an act. I can't believe so many people buy it.

I stepped off a curb one year, coughed at the same time, and herniated a spinal disk.

What I DO buy is that Stevens, at 55, is 2 years older than Mike Smith, has put himself into excellent physical condition in comebacks 2x in his life, and is quite an accomplished athlete.

He really owes nobody any explanations, does he?

I'm always happy when a jockey in a dangerous sport gets out all in one piece. Many don't.

(Unlike some horses who can't run past the age of 3 these days, I'd say he's something this sport can still be proud of. )

Impressive! Three threads for one retirement.

I was told that certain people verified it and it was good enough for them, but yeah, none of the pieces of the story have ever added up. He's not even any fun to mock anymore because he misunderstands all of the insults anyway.

As for Gary, we've got three of these threads but I'll miss him, great rider in his prime, good ambassador for the sport.
