What I DO buy is that Stevens, at 55, is 2 years older than Mike Smith, has put himself into excellent physical condition in comebacks 2x in his life, and is quite an accomplished athlete.
He really owes nobody any explanations, does he?
I'm always happy when a jockey in a dangerous sport gets out all in one piece. Many don't.
(Unlike some horses who can't run past the age of 3 these days, I'd say he's something this sport can still be proud of.
