MVR - Sat. last race declared No Contest

I was at MVR Saturday for the BC. The local racing was on one TV and I happened to see that after the finale there was some replays of the start of the race, and then after a lengthy delay, the race was declared a no contest.

There was no audio where I was, so I had no explanation. Others around me had wagered on the race and there seemed to be confusion to the reason.

Does anyone know what happened?

The Equibase chart only shows 7 races, and does not show any multi race payouts that had to occur when the 8th was cancelled.

Go to the MVR website you can watch the replay. They never say whats going on. Watch the gate was not a fair start.

It was a gate malfunction. Not all of the stalls opened on their own. It's not totally clear on the replay as a few of the horses forced their stalls opened as the bell went off.

There is no chart produced unless there are horses which have positions and beaten lengths but you can always find the "all" payoffs for situations like this by looking at the summary results page available by clicking on Results form the top navigation bar, then "Quick/Summary results".
