That makes sense.

Todd Schrupp, longtime TVG personality, has assisted Lexington NBC affiliate LEX 18 with its Derby coverage off-site for several years. According to sources, that station has been told its reporters may be denied media credentials if Schrupp is part of its team this year, despite his not being on site.

BTW the CDI stock was up 21 points yesterday. It's a juggernaut.

I've had a few trainers tell me the people at Churchill think they are doing owners and trainers a favor by letting them run on their sacred track in their sacred race. One trainer asked for two extra seats and basically got the buzz-off response. It seems friendly to insiders and snobby toward the outfits that come in from other tracks.

Two extra seats for the Derby and Oaks? Or for the rest of the meeting?
Because, frankly, if I ran Churchill, ain't no way any horsemen are getting Derby or Oaks tickets at anything other than market price.

Just two extra seats for Derby weekend.
I was in Saratoga last year. On Friday I was talking to an out of town trainer. He asked me if I was going to come to the track for the Travers. I said I wouldn't even think about going without a ticket/seat. He said there will be one at will call for you.
I guess that is the difference between NY and Kentucky when it comes to trainers bringing their horses.

Well, that and the fact that decent Derby tickets are worth over $1000 each, which is a lot more than the Travers goes for (except for 2015 maybe).

It's pretty common to comp out of town owners and trainers for big events. If Baffert and his owner say, you treated us badly last year so I'm not bringing Justify this year, everybody loses.
It's all in how you finesse the negative response. Which apparently CD is not so good at. They are kind of the Scrooge of bigger tracks.
150,000 people and rain. You aren't likely to see me there.

Baffert was in a tent. Lukss used to stand down at the rail.
I suspect there is a very restrictive policy with respect to box seats st the Derby. They are way too valuable.
