Jockey suspended 30 days

The horse runs second in a $30,000 claimer on Feb. 1 and then drops in for $3500 and the jockey pulls up as soon as the gate opens at 1-20 odds. The trainer is next on the list to meet the stewards. The jockey knew the horse was injured before the race and so did the trainer. Things like this give horse racing a bad name.

And, only 30 days for the jockey. This is the type of thing that should carry a lifetime ban. You have to wonder if anyone involved happen to cash a bet on this.

interesting info on trainer -> a 2008 license revocation from the Arizona Department of Racing that gives as the reason: “being of not good repute or moral character.”

This is the same track/ jurisdiction that did absolutely nothing when Creative Plan's fetlocks were literally coming apart.

the rider knew, and he should have been part of the conspiracy and be in the can..

the part that really stinks to high hell is that the rider is decent for that place, and if the trainer has a bad horse, he usually puts a Kam Kazi pilot on the horse. this one, they really went the extra mile to fool the potential claimer and public to bet their money on the horse.

i was actually having a great day with my dog until i read this thread. i wish i didn't read or even more so, i wish it never happened.

I understand the indignation, but who would bet a 1/20 on an 88% claim drop?

the rebate for w-p-s is 13%. so you get twice as much more than the payoff.

Still a red flag of a worthless horse.

There's a good chance 30 days is the maximum number of days the track stewards are allowed to give. Anything more would have to come from the state racing commission.

A few minutes ago in the Liz Bracken Memorial at Rillito Downs, the same trainer (Juan Pablo Silva) had one break down (Bali Brava at odds of 1-5) on the backstretch.

Ugh.

Don't you think it is time to stop this trainer from running horses? Like, today.

According to the article at the Paulick Report, the trainer (Juan Pablo Silva) was able to get his hearing postponed until March 24th.

Quote:
Juan Pablo Silva, Juror's trainer of record on March 10, has numerous regulatory rulings against him since 2005, according to ThoroughbredRulings.com, including a 2008 license revocation from the Arizona Department of Racing that gives as the reason: “being of not good repute or moral character.” Silva, who has won 446 races from 2,333 starts since 1997, did not have any starters from June 2008 until April 2014.

Turf Paradise track announcer Craig Braddick, who posted the Da Silva ruling on Twitter, said trainer Silva had his hearing before the stewards postponed until March 24.

I sure would like to know the grounds for the postponement.

The horse that broke down was also owned by the same stable as Juror, Tijuana Racing Stables.
