On turf, you more or less want your horse to be able to relax and finish fast. Most of the successful turf trainers don't train like Baffert. And if you notice, Baffert doesn't have as much success on turf.
But Cox has a lot of success on turf, so a bit of conundrum.

I haven't paid any attention to his training style on turf, but he may be so damn good he adjusts well.

Chad Brown has had most of his biggest successes on turf. It seemed to annoy him that people thought of him as turf trainer (at least that's the impression I got). Now he's had some breakthroughs on dirt also and has a very good win%. Maybe it's the horses he's getting, but maybe he's training a little differently depending on whether it's a dirt or turf horse. It would be a great question to ask all these guys. I know the guy that trains for our little group hardly works his horses at all and when he does it's usually a slow breeze. Once he gets a horse fit, he's just trying to keep it fit and sound. He does better on turf.

Does anyone know if Art Collector is expected to return to racing or why he hasn't started training yet (no works listed)?

I don't recall reading that he retired or had a serious injury, but I may have missed something. I thought he looked talented before tailing off at the end. They said he bled in his last race. So maybe no lasix has ended his career or something??

Article from February said he recently returned to Kentucky where he would do aqua training and swimming until it was determined that he was ready to resume training.

Good to see they corrected his issues and have him going in the right direction again.

IMO a couple of his races before the Derby were better than they looked. Then they pushed him trying to get back. Hopefully he can keep moving forward and add to the depth of the stakes division.
