Mutations are mostly lethal

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6107253/

Quote: RNA viruses have high mutation rates—up to a million times higher than their hosts—and these high rates are correlated with enhanced virulence and evolvability, traits considered beneficial for viruses. However, their mutation rates are almost disastrously high, and a small increase in mutation rate can cause RNA viruses to go locally extinct. Researchers often assume that natural selection has optimized the mutation rate of RNA viruses, but new data shows that, in poliovirus, selection for faster replication is stronger and faster polymerases make more mistakes. The fabled mutation rates of RNA viruses appear to be partially a consequence of selection on another trait, not because such a high mutation rate is optimal in and of itself.

RNA viruses ability to rapidly change their genome underlies their ability to emerge in novel hosts, escape vaccine-induced immunity, and evolve to circumvent disease resistance engineered or bred into our crops.
Their inherently high mutation rates yield offspring that differ by 1–2 mutations each from their parent, producing a mutant cloud of descendants that complicates our conception of a genotype’s fitness.

Researchers have suggested that RNA virus mutation rates have evolved to be just under the threshold for lethal mutagenesis (sometimes referred to as error threshold but that selection for genetic diversity and other consequences of a high mutation rate push RNA viruses to near their catastrophic limits.

it is great how the CDC, Fauci and Biden administration are facilitating new mutations on their southern highway to the USA from the WORLD. Nothing like a giant petri dish of unhealthy stressed people already with different strains of covid mixing together in close quarters to increase the mutation rates.

Simple progression of events that come NATURALLY

1) RNA viruses are normally very prone to mutations
2) Viruses CANNOT, repeat CANNOT reproduce without a few specific hosts (in this case H. sapiens)
3) Each time a virus DOES reproduce from inside a HOST'S cellular structure, millions of new particles are released to the environment. Just like polio, the bugs are still out there, but the population is mostly immune to them via vaccination.
4) If there are many MORE hosts available, the virus has found fertile ground to stay viable, and the odds are that creating these millions and millions of NEW particles, as it is an RNA virus, the greater are the number of mutations as well as infections in the unprotected.

CONSLUSION: the major thing that facilitates both MUTATIONS and the increase in ongoing infections in the currently large UNVACCINATED population. is the AVILABILITY of millions and millions of unprotected cells that keep the infection going in the crowd (AS the number support).

QUOTE: Nearly all COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. now are in people who weren’t vaccinated, a staggering demonstration of how effective the shots have been and an indication that deaths per day — now down to under 300 — could be practically zero if everyone eligible got the vaccine.

Any thoughts on how the Lambda variant that began in South and Central America is now showing up in Texas?

So are you saying that lockdowns do not work?

The extreme measures they took in Cali prove that. A year and a half in, it is still a guessing game.

You mean red and blue. If Trump holds a rally, it is a super spreader event. If covid infected illegal aliens pour across the border, it's a natural event and makes no difference.

The rightie MANTRA: WHO can we blame things on?

VIRUSES simply ARE a form of life that moves through susceptible hosts. MORE hosts, more chance of it infecting MORE...THAT is it: a bug is successful.

How did the bug come all the way to North America: via infected HOSTS spewing more viruses and that is how ALL viruses spread through hosts: over long distances JUST LIKE THIS PANDEMIC

So there is no right or wrong, at this time it’s nobody’s fault. That’s not what you guys were saying a year ago.

You have to look for a bright side. . . . . .

Clinton became President we had horse racing.
Obama became President we had horse racing.
Biden became President we have horse racing.

Sports books are being built all over the country and will have the best new air systems, and like Frank Sinatra sings about the air being rarefied it is very unlikely infected illegal aliens will be there.
