"Nothing is better than a good prep race."

" . . . The rain last week changed my plans for training,” Biancone said. “Hey, nothing is better than a good prep race. Before we travel a long way, we want to see where we are. I think it will be good for them. Gulfstream Park has been kind enough to provide us with a race that we can run in.”

This is Race 9 at Gulfstream today. I don't know if the race is long enough for Sole Valante, particularly since it's perfectly short enough for Ete Indien. Shivaree may also have something to say about the pace.

Primary play is a // trifecta.

It depends if Shivaree goes for the lead. I think he did in the last one because of post position, but he's run in various spots in previous races and appeared to rate kindly.

'Colorful' little prep race.

All six have some interesting aspects.

From my perspective, it looks like Ete Indian is much the horse to beat.

Biancone is clear with the jockey assignment of Geroux to the as well, further emphasizing that thought.

Not much money coming in on the Shivaree, either (even further emphasizing these models...)

TOUGH LUCK betting race lol. I can 'root' for the , but I'm scared to pull the trigger.

have a long-shot chance of beating the Sole Volante for 2nd.

is kind of the same style as Volante, but much less horse. Slight danger to sit a trip, and close, - but I think I kind of want to hope to beat the with a forward favoring trip, not a weaker closer out-closing the .

The is goofy, and broke maiden off-the-turf in a field of six... Not my $$…

The Jesus' Team is probably way too cheap, but he certainly 'woke up' last time. Saez also gave him a stellar ride. Cruised on the lead, shook up and change leads charge home, - and then saved horse in deep stretch... Has worked back...

I'll probably pass, but I want to see the ex probable on a 1-5 for a long-shot.

I thought he just looked a bit short. Shivaree also hounded him the entire way.

Shivaree is a good horse. He got the best of Ete Indien twice now.

Last time I thought the way the track was playing may have given Shivaree an advantage and Ete Indien would turn the tables this time. Maybe he was short or maybe Shivaree is just better than him.

That was nearly as bad as the 1998 Jockey Club Gold Cup when Skip Away and Gentlemen went at it like they were in their own private match race.

Not sure what possessed either jock to try and duel like that for a flat mile but wouldn't be surprised if both colts busted a gut. Ridiculous fractions :45 for the 1/2 and 1:09 for 3/4s and they crawled home slower than $12.5 claimers earlier on the card.

Wouldn't give any props to Sole Volante for coming along to score, especially if they stretch him out off of this race. That said, he might have tipped his hand for a race like the Allen Jerkens (or the Woody Stephens even earlier).

I envision him potentially clunking up into the Derby exotics if he gets that far. Distance is his friend if the dosage profile is any guide.
