Betting Against - California Chrome
Ok, serious question:
Is there anyplace (on the internet?) that will simply take "single bet" action against California Chrome?
Example - "I want to wager $100.00 that CC will not win the derby"
I have never heard of such a scenario, but with all the building excitement and premature triple crown talk, I was curious.
Maybe one of the overseas based guys will offer something?

With 19 other horses in the race, I would assume you would lay $100 to win $5.......no one has a bet like this anyway.......if you want to bet against him, pick 5 horses that you like & bet $20 to win on each.
If your horse goes off 20-1 & wins, you will collect $420 & make a profit of $320

That is pretty much exactly what I intend to do.. He may beat me, but I intend to go down swinging.

From what I have heard, current odds on all except CC are -350. You get 19 horses and have to lay 350 to make 100. Hard pass.

Neither of these statements are true. It'd be a chalky bet, but not 1/20 odds. Yes, he is one of 20 horses, but he's also the favorite to win the race and may be one of the shortest priced favorites in recent years.
These bets do exist, but it is likely too early on at this point. Once the posts are drawn, I wouldn't be surprised to see this pop up on some books throughout the internet.

Only -350??? Wow! This tells me Chrome is a sure winner.......odds like this give it away IMO.

Agreed FlyIn. It's like selling stock short. It's done, but many traders don't even know how to do it or that it exists. You can make a killing selling stock short on a real bearish day.
It will be interesting to see what the action is for betting against CC on Derby Day. I'll probably have him in a few exotics I'll wager, but I'm not sure - YET - that I'll bet him to win. I have a lot of capping yet to do before that bet is placed.

Not sure what the pa rules are but if its allowed why simply ask on here? I know another site where I have been involved with head 2 head wagers and have transacted 500plus bucks without issue...the other sites policy was " we aren't involved if y'all get stiffed"
