Obviously, this is a very slippery slope, one best addressed minimally rather than across the board.
That's hilarious seeing the stuff people cite on here. Just other end of the spectrum.

Who gets to define "legitimate news organizations"?

Who gets to define the line between news and opinion? I haven't watched cable "news" in many years, but a lot of CNN, pretty much all of MSNBC, and most of the evening Fox shows were opinion, not news. Should they all be subject to government standards?

Any American citizen has this right, true? I sense a bias here. You have that right also.

According to the Michael Wolff book. Donald J. Trump:

1-Did not want to win
2-Promised his wife he would not win
3-Suffers from dementia
4-Ran a "listless" campaign

And he still managed to beat Crooked Hillary's $1.2 juggernaut?

A bias against what? Criticizing the president, or trying to stop a book from being published?

Hint: my bias is toward freedom of speech and freedom of the press. My bias is also toward sarcasm when it comes to politics.

1- Its well documented he intended to drop out and endorse Christie.

2- ?

3- Certainly possible.

4- Well known fact his ground campaign was garbage.

No, he suffers from the inability to engage his brain before opening his mouth. Or his Twitter account.

Trump didn't beat Hillary, Hillary beat herself, having laid the foundation for many years in the past.

No one is talking about opinions on either side.
But opinions and news should be held to some standards.
I should be able to say Trump walks on water only if I can prove he can.
If I say I think Trump could walk on water, then I am ok.

If NBC is found to be handing over debate questions ahead of time, to only on candidate, which it was, then it should be penalized somehow.

Saying a story is based on an unnamed source is one thing, but you better be able to identify the source - not in open court or to the public, but to a judge.

Right now, should Trump ban the NY Slime from all press briefings?
I say yes, of course. Because there is proof that they were not acting as unbiased reporters. Without that, then no, he should not.

I have never used Twitter. All I know about it is what is reported second hand in the media. From what I have seen, Trump's tweets certainly seem to be the best source for an insight into the depth of the man.

Or lack thereof.

Then you don’t get it. He’s weaponized it against his enemies. It’s freaking brilliant. He can control the news cycle with a tweet!

How if the bulk of the news it creates damages the administration and the majority of Americans wish he would stop... including his cabinet?

I get that it can and has been used effectively occasionally but if you think this is some master plan and not the exposure of Trump's very insecure ego and thin skin I don't know what to say.

This is another one of those 4D chess theories.
