As to your first point, I agree that no one theory will ever be able to claim such success. Like most things, a little of this and a little of that goes a long way.
As to your second point, no one can actually say that tariffs as a long term policy works. That said, tariffs as a short term policy to effect long term economic change can certainly work and that is what I support. I do not believe in artificial barriers (tariffs) except in temporary situations. That is what I view that we have here which is probably why we disagree so firmly. Tariffs are antithetical to you. They are tools to change to me.
