Lots of good riders out there

This thread is very subjective and proves little.

There are at least 20-30 jocks who, on any given day,
will get the business done very nicely for you.
It's all about the horse.

Thing is, you can list the flavors of the month,
and they can be as good, or as bad, as many others.
They are all human.

There's a tendency for a lot of bettors to favor
those that they have cashed big on.

That's a good thing, but there's no guarantee
that it will help you tomorrow.

There is no right answer in a thread like this.

I will say though that the pressure in those big races is real, dealing with it is not just random luck, some people in many sports seem to deal, almost thrive, in the biggest pressure situations and raise their performance. That is the guy you want I suppose if there is a answer to this thread.

Javier Castellano with Joel Rosario a close second. Both are very strong when it counts, in deep stretch.

...
Yup, he's the ultimate entrepreneur - tack, racing attire, bloodstock, you name it - but he's still winning races too. Not often, but he unfortunately doesn't get a lot of 'outside' business with 50 other riders three or more decades younger all around. As old as he is, he can still hang with them when he's mounted and passed number 2,000 in wins a couple years ago. Might as well make the NBC telecast worth watching if I've got to be on television.

That would be my answer too. In my case, I were fortunate enough to be such a position, I would have got there by giving a chance to an old guy like Perry Ouzts that deserves a chance, or Lori Wydick, or a local youngster like Megan Fadlovich or Ben Creed. When Rosie N. made it to a Derby, she became a storyline. I would like my jock to be a storyline too.

I don't think I was trying to prove anything with the thread. I created it because I was watching a replay of the 2005 Kentucky derby and it seems like Afleet Alex wasn't running straight in the deep stretch. It got me thinking that maybe if he have had a top jockey he would have won the TC. I know he wasn't the odds on favorite but he was the best horse.

I know. But, the question was which jockey would I choose and I'd choose to win the Kentucky Derby first. Then I'd worry about future races.
