even at 50 bucks your would be tapped after a week, not unusual to miss in those type of pools.
For the life of me I have no idea why some of the things that Andy has done at NYRA has not been done on TVG. (trips and traps, national stakes review).
There is very little time devoted to teaching new players how to actually handicap. There is very little time dedicated to how to watch race replays and see what could be learned at things that happen during a race.
There is no time spent learning about ticket construction and maximizing a strong opinion on a race.
Those infomercials must make the bank for them because an hour a week educating their existing and future customers has never really been on that network. The closest I can recall was Matt's show that recapped stakes races, think it was on Sunday nights.
rant over, sorry,

Sincere question, Vic:
Why are the win-wagers and the exactas so ignored by the TVG hosts...as they continually submit horizontal-wager tickets as recommendations to their viewers? Aren't the win and the exacta wagers more "fan-friendly", financially speaking...for the majority of their target audience?

Win wagers aren't ignored. We put "check marks" on many races throughout the cards.
Exactas not so much, but can be addressed in the narrative.

TVG can do whatever they want. But I can set my watch to the fact that every pick 4/5 ticket submitted will be boiled down to a combination involving the top 3 favorites in every race. Singles will almost always involve the most likely winner, etc.
If I was TVG, I'd give the hosts a $250 bankroll and force players to "deduct" horses from the structure to fit their bankroll. 1) It would allow the hosts to look past the obvious 2) It would generate more winning tickets
I just have NEVER understood the idea that an expert should "tout" obvious horses. You have the program for that.

My tickets are NEVER like that.

With the exception of you, the Sarge, and Candice Hare...the rest of the "narrative" isn't worth turning on the volume...IMO. And Peter Lurie should be beaten with sticks for the "handicapping job" that he does.

That was soooo gross. He's been doing that since he was a 2 year old. You'd think he'd grow out of it.
Did add to the legend of Soi Phet which is kinda cool.

I'm pretty sure that the whole point is to create enough winning tickets to suck people into making more risky tickets on their own. It's a pretty standard tactic. They aren't trying to help, they are trying to reel people in, and the best way is to do that is by building confidence with easy wins from cheap tickets, and favorites do win more often than long shots.
Besides, the majority of posters on this site ridicule people for not betting 3/5 favorites, so it's pretty much black pots and black kettles...
