Data represent only part of the problem. On top of them you need an objective methodology to derive your conclusions. For example you might have two handicappers disagreeing about the predictive value of distance; on top of the related databases you need to build some ML models to confirm or reject the hypothesis and once this is done it does not make sense to continue the disagreement.

Personally, I am not looking for real "collaboration." I am merely looking for ideas that have merit in a specific area.

That is why the bar is so high: it demands someone who has a certain "think-out-of-the-box" mentality without having lost their sanity.

LOL - Someone actually came to mind when I said that. (Not someone on this forum.)

My friend Dave from the U.K., never tires of me calling him and throwing ideas at him. Once had a 10 hour marathon discussion about value. (Argument ongoing). The only person besides myself who never gets bored with horse race handicapping and betting and discussing the pro and cons of an upcoming race.

Also a wiz at historical Horseracing knowledge, a virtual treasure trove of European racing.

Socrates believed that we already know the answers to many problems and used his questioning technique to draw out from the individual the required knowledge, using only the things that the individual already knows. Or as G.K. Chesterton succinctly put it in one of his 'Father Brown' stories

"It not that they can't see the solution. They can't see the problem"

G.K. thought the flat runners a bore. One of my few disagreements with him.
