Thanks...I thought I was going crazy because I could have sworn there is no AW track at Aqueduct...I was like, I didn't bet much last winter, but I wasn't in a coma either...

My gym is non air-conditioned. 90+ plus high humidity inside. Today, Still did 8 sets of squats, 6 sets of leg press, leg extensions and leg curls. Less you think I take it easy and light, I worked up to 205 pound squats and 405 pound leg presses, for reps. I take a 1/2 hour bus ride each way to get there.
64 years young, still suiting up and showing up.

It isn't uncommon for a track to cancel in the summer due to temps hitting above 95 (it's 96 currently in Philly and it's only noon)...and there is an excessive heat warning for the area up on the NWS.
So yeah, I doubt it has much to do with a casino, and more that it would be bad optics for a horse to drop dead (and possibly kill someone) during a race due to heat exhaustion.
Probably more so these days because all these horses are doped up on LASIX which probably doesn't help matters when it's 96 degrees with 52% humidity and a heat index of 105.

It should be noted that Belmont had to cancel due to state regulations.
My question is why don't we bettors or some horsemen not know exactly what the state regulations are. It would be a helpful in planning my day.

If he runs 6f in 1:10 and change in the heat, then we can consider it the same thing.
Joking, but half-serious.
As someone below mentioned, until the horses not having a way to say, "Sorry, not today," they need guardians.
If you think THIS is something to complain about, wait until Mother Nature decides to ruin your Caribbean vacation with a hurricane.
But... you can always stay onboard and go to the casino.

Nobody tell these guys the conditions they run in at Sacramento, or at Gulfstream in the summer.

Or at LaD today where it's in the mid-90s.
The key difference is what is the weather usually like and what are the horses used to...acclimation. Big difference.
This was the first week it's been in the mid to upper 90s in the northeast. With humidity over 50%.
You guys can spin it every way you like.
Aren't you one of those AWS cheerleaders for the safety of horses? Well, this is a safety of horses (and jockeys) matter...you shouldn't be trying to downplay it.

I am not, really. If a racetrack needs to close, that's not something I would question.
I just found "over 90, OMG" somewhat amusing, that's all.

When the heat index hits 105 the tracks must shut down.

The only reason PARX is still open is because people need their Monday and Tuesday fix. Biggest dump with the smallest excuse to be one.
That being said, they did the right thing. Cancelled the day before, gave everyone decent notice. Horses on lasix would be dropping dead in this heat. One of the few instances where PARX seems to actually care about their horses.

Parx* is my most consistently profitable track.
*Damn spellchecker keeps insisting I mean 'Parc' and I have no idea what that is.
