Here is something to ponder about.

Mohawk Dec 9, 2022

AGCO ruling on Race 8 and I am copying & pasting

'Race 8:Scott Wray was in violation of AGCO Rule 6.02(a), for failing to drive when programmed causing a late driver change, $100 monetary penalty. Ruling # 1982517.' End quote

Scott Wray was scheduled to drive #10 Greystone Treasure (14-1) but was replaced by top driver Sylvain Filion as a late driver change.

Result: Sylvain Filion went to the top from the 10 hole and never looked back winning and paying $31.80 screwing up the pick-4 and pick-5 players royally.

Don't you think the $100 fine given to Mr Scott Wary is meaningless?

Me thinks late driver changes should never be allowed in pick-4 and pick-5 situations and the horse should have been scratched.

Your comments please.

Here is another one in which an owner got screwed on the Dec 8 in Race 10

Here is the AGCO ruling on that and I quote.

"Office: Spoke with trainer Dain Pearson regarding the claim of Major On The Beach from the 10th race last night. The horse was programmed as a horse, but in fact was a gelding. AGCO Rule 15.20.02 states that the new claimant has 30 minutes after the race to notify the judges of the incorrect sex of the horse, and after that time claimant must accept the horse regardless of the error."

Moral of the story: Read the fine print of AGCO rules before making any claims.

I know of one instance where a claimed horse dropped dead after the race.

The new owner was stuck with a dead horse.

I wonder what the AGCO rules say for such a situation.

I was curious so I Google searched for this one and I came up with this one and I quote

"Title to a claimed horse shall be vested in the successful claimant at the time the horse becomes a starter. The successful claimant shall then become the owner of the horse whether alive or dead, sound or unsound, or injured at anytime after leaving the starting gate, during the race or after."

This rule, however, says nothing about an owner claiming a horse which turns out to be a gelding.
