$1.20 Payout on Superfecta at Fingerlakes today

This was a five horse field, but it is emblematic of today's shrinking fields and minuscule payouts. Does anyone have any stats on this?

Definitely attributable to field size. An AB/AB/ABCD/ABCDE ticket is 80 cents and the top two finishers were both even money to win. So, the payout is not a surprise.

Exactly. All super payouts are heavily influenced by the top 2 finishers' odds.

The bigger question is why bother betting into that pool with a 5-horse field?!!

Is that for 10 cents? $1, $2 ??? I had a $2 Pick Six at Los Alamitos QH that paid $70.
There were a bunch of trial races won by short priced favorites.

That was on a dime.

I played a P6 at FG cold, singled all 6 races. I hit 5 of 6 and the consolation paid $12.30.

I just spent 20 minutes locating a chart of a $1 superfecta that paid $1.90

The $1 exacta paid $1.70
The $1 tri paid $1.70

so the super is where the sharps unloaded in the 4-horse field.

(* not really, for credit is warranted for any given player having his $900 (or $9000) exact-order bet in the pool at those prices) {had he taken the large wager out of the exacta pool and put it in the super pool, the exacta may have paid $1.90 and the super $1.20 }
