There really is no wrong answer here. Here are the five I look forward to the most each year.

1. Kentucky Derby
2. Arc
3. Breeders Cup Classic
4. Melbourne Cup
5. First Race of the Del Mar summer meet

1) mdn claiming
2)another mdn claiming
3) yet another mdn claiming
4) clm nw2l
5) clm nw3l

And that's why you never see me pissing & moaning about the sorry state of horse racing. For me everything is copacetic.

2) 1978 Belmont Stakes
3) 1986 Big Cap

Yes the 1986 Big Cap was exceptional. I was standing on the apron near the finish line that day and had my $2 win bet on Ferdinand. I could not believe he lost that photo.

You are remembering the 1987 Big Cap. Ferdinand was a 3yo in 1986 on his way to the Kentucky Derby.

The best race I ever saw in person was probably the 1989 BC Classic, and the most impressive performance was the 1980 Strub.

The 2016 Distaff was the best one I saw recently.

I love a good grass allowance with a full field, though. You usually get 4 horse cavalry charges through the stretch.

You are correct, my mistake. I guess it was the 87 Big Cap that I loved.
