Breeders' Cup Classic Discussion
Palace Malice has a huge shot. He ran against the bias in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, and the winner of the BC Classic always seems to be one of the losers from the race.
I couldn't bet Flat Out on top with monopoly money outside of New York, so it has to be Palace Malice.

I'll take Game on dude, especially if he gets Mike Smith as a rider.

My main concern is that Fort Larned, who I think is on equal terms with Game on Dude in early speed, will tire him out. Game on Dude hasn't faced a front runner on the same level as Fort Larned all year.

Graydar is pointing towards the Classic, which spells further doom for Game on Dude, Fort Larned, and Moreno. Neither of those 4 horses are going to rate. They all need the lead for their best shot.

Was really hoping Graydar would go to the Mile. Told myself back in March that Graydar would be my Classic horse if he ran but that was before he went on the shelf for 6 months. Tough to play him 2nd off such a long layoff with this lineup plus a distance concern. I'm not as concerned about the pace issue as I think he can rate just behind GOM/FL/Moreno but still leaning pretty heavily to MMM.

Last Gunfighter is confirmed to be pointed to the Classic. Don't think he can win but I guess crazier things have happened.

Of the 3yos going I agree Palace Malice is easily tops of that group. He's training forwardly too. Not sure he can beat 'Dude if that one runs his race though... Mucho Macho Man is the other that I'm looking at right now. Hard to say this early on, but if he can work out a stalking trip right off the main speed I think he fires big. He does seem to like SA.
...seems pretty wide open right now, actually.

Aidan O'Brien is sending Declaration Of War. Keep an eye on this one. He's not one of O'Brien's usual afterthoughts, he can handle a fast pace and he's got a good dirt pedigree (sire is War Front and is related to Union Rags on the dam side).

Mucho Macho Man looks to be peaking at the right time IMO. Sep 28th rated nicely and completely demolished lesser in a public work. He'll need an even bigger effort here but if you go by his last few races of 2012 he potentially has plenty more left in the tank.

Ron The Greek
He's back to near his best, and that should keep him in the race until he starts to do his strongest running,
which is in the final half mile.
On a bad day, he would be too far back to have a chance.
I think he will have a good day again on Saturday.
He certainly has enough pace to set him up.

I could see a horse like him never contending for the win spot but picking up pieces late and crashing into the tri or even the exacta at a nice price.

I love his work pattern and the improvement since the JCGC. Saw an interview with Mott who said the horse is doing it all on his own. They are not urging him etc. can he run back to the JCGC?
Therein lies the mystery........
