Signing a 30 year old winger to an 8 year deal?
That's an anchor of a contract if i've ever seen one.

Did we just draft a right-shooting defenseman?
This might be the steal of the draft, he was ranked 5th overall to start the season.
TIMOTHY LILJEGREN
A skilled offensive defenseman with excellent skating skills. The way he combines his speed with strong puck handling skills makes him a quite spectacular player to watch. Decision making is at times a bit questionable and there is some room for improvement when it comes to his defensive game. If he puts everything together, he should become a high scoring defenseman thanks to his hockey sense, quick release and strong passing game.

The Caps are insane and will be over the CAP shortly. Don't know much about this kid from Sweden but like I stated earlier In Hunter I Trust.

They compare him to Erik Karlsson.
He should have went a lot earlier in the draft, but he dealt with 2 rounds of mono this season, and it killed his draft ranking.
The last time the Leafs picked a defenseman who probably fell due to missing a lot of time in his draft year, they got a young Morgan Rielly.
We may have a beauty here, and he's a right-handed shot, F*ck Ya!

Toews looks like a younger Yzerman. 19 and all. No Kostin yet. I remember what I saw two years ago and stand by this kid. Maybe he's become a mental midget but I saw the best player on the ice that week. I really like the Coyote GM, youngest in sports I believe. I do find it interesting they kicked Doan to the curb. MY dream scenario, the Leafs trade some forwards for top 4 defense man and then sign Auston Matthews childhood hero Shane Doan and put him on the same line with him. We need defensman Lou, get it done!!!!

Jesus Christ what was Armstrong smoking when he made this deal???
Conditions on second pick from STL to PHI: top 10 protected, STL has option to push to 2019. If they do so, PHI also gets a third in 2020.
So potentially THREE PICKS and Lehtera for Brayden Schenn?
Your boy Kostin finally went, i cant wrap my head around that trade.

Find it interesting that Kostin has one of the better chances of making his team and he was the last pick in the first round. Trades spiced it up at the end but a little bit of a letdown tonight. Lots more action to come before free agency though.

The first 20 or so selections were dominated by centreman and defenceman, wingers are a dime a dozen these days, it doesn't surprise me that he fell in the draft, teams were targeting their needs.
First Round
Center 14
Defense 9
Wing 7
Goal 1

I hate to say it, but watching the NHL draft beyond the first 20 or so picks is a waste of time, for me.
The Oilers drafted 22nd and I turned off the TV.
To be honest, I only watched the first 4 picks, and recorded the rest on Friday.
Later I raced the recording ahead to the Oilers pick, who was a midget by today's NHL standards, K. Yamamoto. (5'7 and 155 lbs.)
Unless he beefs up, he'll be killed in the NHL.
Back to Juniors kid.
I'll read about the selections in the paper.
Yet the draft is on all day on TV and radio here.
Pretty boring stuff, in my opinion.

What is your opinion of Johnny Gaudreau and Mitch Marner?
Because that is exactly what you got, do not underestimate this kid, he may be small but he has a very high skillset and was one of the most dynamic players in the draft.
